AFSCME, LOCAL 390 MEETING MINUTES

Meeting Date: November 19th, 2009

Attending: Sue Edwardh, Paula Goetzke, Sandy Hathaway, Cindy Yund, Carolyn Webber, Sara Cohen, Maridy Nordlum, Janina Johnson, Laurie Vicklund-Boylan, Gladys McKenzi.

Committee Reports:

• Grievance Committee:
• Officers will schedule a meeting with Human Resources to discuss grievances and how they are being handled
• Theere are scheduling issues amongst MSOCS and DT&H's that are being looked into
• Full time retirements in MSOCS are being posted as 3/4 time. Per contract language, this should not be ok and officers will contact appropriate person to discuss this issue
• Regarding med errors, some cases are being looked into going back many years
• There are also many work partnership issues as well
• One discharge is in the loudermill process
• Grievance won at METO regarding OE shift
• Safety Committee:
• METO: had lockdown yesterday, was succesful
• Supplies are available in case of pandemic
• MSOCS-H1N1, info to come as available
• Committees formed to ensure safety for clients and staff (neighborhood, pandemic, patient handling)
• Maintenance on mechanical lifts and tubs to be checked 2x a year
• Shower floor safety discussed
• Working on getting proper information to those who need it to ensure safety throughout DHS, SOS and MSOCS

• Duane Gatzke running for PEOPLE fundraising again
• International E Board meeting in D.C. on Wed Dec 9^th
• Reassignment notices given
• Client investigation notices, no employee misconduct found

New Business:

• Cindy Yund has been appointed as our local's newest E Board member. She will take the place of Ed Jabs who has stepped out of this role
• Thanks to Ed Jabs for his hard work and welcome to Cindy
• Workday Minnesota - Motion made with a friendly amendment to donate $125. Seconded and approved
• Notice will be given out to let members know there will be a union meeting for December 17^th at 4:00p.m.
• Day on the hill is February 17^th

Good and Welfare:

• METO director Natalie Marr sent thank you note for donation towards employee recognition
